These warm summer days call for tasty hydration.

Our organic St. John’s wort oil is processed with fresh flowers and leaves and yields the most Beautiful bright red color from the constituent hypericin. You can see in the first video the burgundy color that excretes from the flowers being squeezed.

Infused oils used topically can provide us with the same benefits as taking herbs internally. Transdermal application is in fact a very old way of using herbs. Traditionally herbs where used in animal fat as processing nut oils didn’t really exist.

Externally the uses are broad but it’s great for nerve pain, wounds, bruises, cuts, scrapes, muscle pain, sprains, cold sores, and strains.

Can i tell you a secret? Do you want to know how to make high quality oils. Micheal Moore used alcohol for dried herbs but I also use alcohol for fresh plants. I put a tablespoon of high grain alcohol (or 2 depending on quantity) over fresh herbs in a jar. Shake. let that sit on the fresh herbs for 24 hrs then pour your oil over. put the sjw oil in the sun (this is a must for sjw) for a week (protected from the elements). After 4 weeks, heat up the oil (never over 100 degrees), for a few hours and then strain. And bam you have a shelf stable, super high potency oil.

St. John’s wort an ode to the sun, usually ready to be harvested or admired around the summer solstice. It can bring light inside of us, and shine light on the dark within us.

These babies are getting harvested and loaded in the solar drier to be added to a new tea blend we will be making.

We did some experimenting with seeding hoop house calendula an California poppy on top of field planting. With climate chaos, flooding, heat, drought it’s nice to have a semi controlled environment.

Leif has really enjoyed finding all the insects in them, and stomping on them, and coloring his body with the flowers 🤷‍♀️

The weaver is back!

And it’s transformed into something I’m really happy about. Got rid of commercial essential oils and we only use our on farm distilled wild carrot essential oil for it now.

We also Added a new star ingredient-Japanese knotweed. Let’s chat about this invasive plant for a min.

The young spring shoots are tender and tasty giving a bit of a rhubarb sour flavor with a hint of asparagus.
The roots are used medicinally for people suffering from chronic conditions like Lyme , joint issues and arthritis. There is some really fascinating research behind it.

Japanese knotweed is an excellent source of resveratrol, the chemical compound found in grapes–except Japanese knotweed contains high concentrations of trans-resveratrol, the active form of the compound most useful to the body. Japanese knotweed is quickly becoming the preferred source of resveratrol.
You might be familiar with this constituent due to its research that promotes it to have many health benefits such as protecting the heart and circulatory system, lowering cholesterol, and protecting against clots which can cause heart attacks and stroke, and being a powerful antioxidant that is used in marketing for “anti-aging”.

Topically this plant can do wonders for the skin and is easily absorbed transdermally.
But more importantly is also bio available when used topically.
Applied topically, resveratrol helps protect skin's surface, interrupts and helps rebuff negative environmental influences, and brightens a tired-looking complexion. It also has significant skin-calming properties that may help minimize the look of redness. "Using an antioxidant such as resveratrol helps boost your skin's natural barriers so that your skin looks and feels smoother and healthier." Slows aging: Green says resveratrol works on a cellular level in order to fight the process of aging by stimulating healthy cell proliferation.”

We are not ones that agree with the “anti-aging” propaganda. I would rather focus on making a beautiful oil that promotes skin health overall, and giving everyone radiant plant potioned skin.

This blend is a powerhouse and I’m excited to share it with you all!
